In order to further put off starting my paper for Austin Sarat, I find myself perusing the sizable handful of newly-birthed blogs on this glorious fount of discourse, The Amherst Public. While I did not post on the DailyJolt in support of the project, let me now come out publicly (eesh..) with enthusiasm and high fives all around for the launch of AmhPub. Despite the genesis of a new irritating abbreviation to explain to everyone who doesn’t go here, I’m psyched that Sam Rudman and Aaron Nathan are already fighting, Emily Moin is already baffling me with her obscure (and therefore infinitely cool) musical and extra-musical references, and On The Road has been mentioned at least twice (according to the handy-dandy search bar in the right column! SHINY!!).
I’m really curious what kind of demographic we’re going to see here. Aka, will AmhPub be able to subvert the endlessly offensive Amherst Confessional by silently absconding with its readership? Will the oft petty DailyJolt forums be replaced by more intimate, involved, and more accurate conversation on this site (Not that the DailyJolt is useless across the board; the occasional useful forum discussion does exist)? Or, will the patrons of these sites refuse to relinquish their anonymity and succumb to responsibility for their words, remaining forever trapped in the vicious cycle of their own futility?
I feel like a sci-fi radio host. “Will Scott ever overcome his irritating obsession with parentheses?? Find out next time on…”
Hope everyone’s feeling good, working good, and going to get through finals ok. Summer is so soon. Power through.
Love,
Scott

Hitchhike’s Guide and Kerouac all in one (oh God) “blog”? This might be too much fun already.
