Hi Everybody. My name is Sam Grausz and I helped found the Amherst Public. I will have more thoughts shortly about the project as a whole, but for the time being I would like to encourage everyone to get registered, explore the site, comment on a few posts, and, if you are really bold, post something on your blog. The Amherst Public is Amherst, pure, simple and without convenient masks of anonymity. Get involved, make yourself heard, make Amherst a better place.

Great job, Grausz! The site’s looking terrific so far.

I love this site, partially because of it’s elegant font and layout. I even wrote a post to-day, celebrating a break in finals… One thing bothers me, though: the spacing after periods. Only one space is placed after a period, regardless of how many were placed in the code. I’m not sure what the typographical default is, but it’s certainly more than that: something between one and two. Making the spacing between sentences larger than that within them generally improves readability: you’re less likely to skip a period or mistake it for a comma. I bet there’s a way to force the program to produce double spaces: would you know how?
