Replacing Blackboard was a good idea, and a homegrown solution isn’t a terrible notion. But then it got out of hand. So, so far out of hand. What seemed to start as a Good Idea became worse and worse, farther and farther from what it should have been, just waiting to collapse under its own weight. And the IT department doesn’t even seem to realize the limitations of their system. They seem to think that a castrated blogging system could replace every site on campus…and it doesn’t. They seem to think every organization on campus can do anything they need to do on the web with their hobbled version of Drupal, and they won’t even let you change the order the links on the side come in? Seriously? Alphabetical only? What moron designed this thing? Oh, that’s right–a committee.
This blog will explore, develop, and expose the exact inanity of the CMS system, and why no self-respecting campus organization or department should even consider using it. Seriously, guys, how did you fuck up this bad? And not realize it?
