God, such an odd default first post to spontaneously appear.
Well, I ought to be writing my Spanish Term Paper right now, and while the topic is interesting enough, I must fight against the constant desire to simply sit and not deal with it right now.
You may be wondering about the title? I dunno, I wanted something that sounded a little creative and metaphorical. I’ve always been a fan of space and the moon and keep a close watch on the lunar calendar out of habit more than anything. And a Luminate is one who illuminates manuscripts and books; a limner. While I really do not consider myself the time to bring insight towards written word, I think that such a thing might be worthwhile to pursue to an extent.
Plus, just like how the moon only fully lights up the Earth about once a month, so will I probably use this blog and share my insight just every once and again.
Kendra Allen, if any of you may remember her, also brings up a nice point: The moon does not have its own source of light, as it reflects the light of the sun. So just what is it that I will be reflecting?
I never did get into planworld after all, and so we’ll see how this goes. Maybe it’ll find use this summer when I am here doing research as a Hughes Fellow.
Ah well. I do hope to at least share a few of the more interesting and currently obscured findings of the internet. For example, Charlie the Unicorn picked up steam around last summer, BUT at the end of post-high school summer I was introduced to it, and I spread it to my friends and my dormmates when I got to Amherst at the start of school. Then nearly a year later I hear stories of people being shown this only to say that they’d already seen it :O
Such connections are common through the net and thus like all viral items, I’ll see if I can spread some entertainment around.
I guess I should get back to work now. Stay tuned to see if this Luminate decides to reflect anything particularly interesting!
(Or maybe I’ll change the blog title soon enough WE’LL SEE WON’T WE)
