What’s the word?

So I spent the summer in Sierra Leone…

…along with Sam Grausz, Sabrina Dorman, Josh Nathan, and, for a brief time, Anna Mullen — basically saving the world.  Since I still don’t really have a great answer to what exactly we did for our seven weeks over there, I figured I might just post a few photos…

The standard sunset shot.

Freetown street scene.

Susie, one of our friends domesticated pet deer (I’m not kidding).

Casa Amherst.

Our kitchen.

Gotta love the kids. That’s basically what the rest of these photos will be since they were so photogenic.

The view from our local cell tower.

A quiet moment while distributing rice.

A poda poda in Bunumbu, the sprawling metropolis three miles away from our village.

Triumphantly walking out of the village at the conclusion of our trip — a fitting end, no?

Amherst-y Photos

April 29th, 2008 · 1 Comment

As many of you know, I work as a photographer for the Public Affairs Office here at Amherst.  The office is currently working on the 2008-2008 college calendar; here are a few favorites of my own that I came across when looking at possibilities…

First-Year students in squads on the quad during Orientation Week.

The Herrell’s Magic Ice Cream Bus visits Amherst in September for the CCE Opening.

Mass. Gov. Deval Patrick at Amherst in September for the CCE Opening.

Camera obscura near the Mead.

Self-explanatory.

Also self-explanatory.

Looking towards UMass from atop Johnson Chapel.

Ass’t Sec. of State Christopher Hill in Johnson Chapel as he is accosted by the Japanese press regarding his role in the North Korea Nuclear Talks.

The Harlem Gospel Choir visits Amherst.

Not a calendar option…part of a series I did of unique frozen sports action.
